The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Episode 2 Review With Spoilers

The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Episode 2 is a nice second episode for such an interesting anime. I liked that the narrative started from where we left off in the last episode. Saku was spending a week off with her cat. It was homely. So what happens next-

Without any further ado, let’s get going with-

The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Episode 2 Review

The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Episode 2 begins with a glimpse of the past, giving us a brief insight into how the Kawaii girl met the masterful cat. The heavy voice of Yukichi depicts his intellect adeptly and his confidence in the notion that he is the only masterful cat is evidence of his superiority complex.

Back in the present, we understand how Yuikichi perceives Saku. He feels unfortunate that Saku is his human which is very unkind. However seeing from his shoes it’s quite reasonable as well, don’t you think?

So, Saku brings Yukichi home on a snowy night from a park nearby to her small apartment which was packed with cartons of what, I don’t know that yet. See, the park was open and it was snowy so, there was cold outside, but not clustered. However, the home where Saku lived and the way she lived was filled with dirt and filth, it was seriously garbage.

This one act of kindness brings limitless luck to Saku. Having Yukichi is a blessing is what I feel. Also, Yukichi’s motivation to enjoy delicious cat food deserves center stage for all the encouragement the cat offers to his human for going to work.

But, I feel Yukichi loves Saku. Typically he sleeps beside Saku. But here in EP 2, he curls up like a normal cat. He definitely loves and genuinely cares about Saku’s safety and health.

Finally, we get to enjoy a wholesome OP. Besides the beautiful composition, the scenery in the OP was so nice. We get to know who are the minor characters of the show. I can rewatch the OP multiple times.

I liked watching Saku, enjoying a chill weekend scrolling through her phone. She is a Japanese corporate lady, so she hardly gets time to herself. I also liked the cute picture of Yukichi when Yukichi was tiny in comparison to the body he had developed.

Being called big like a bear, he swiftly brings in the weigh machine. He was offended while being very cute. I also liked it when he sat and respected when Saku asked him to.

The conversation between Saku and Yukichi was going fine, till Saku talks about, how Yukichi is able to perform all the house chores effortlessly. Like why is she asking now, isn’t this a lot late? I was smiling the whole time.

The montage became more humorous when this conversation made Saku realize that Yukichi is her caretaker and not her.

What I feel is that Yukichi wanted to give Saku the life she deserved. Since Saku is not at all good with self-love. Yukichi takes the adult responsibility in her place because he believes that if Saku didn’t bring him on that snowy night, he wouldn’t have survived the cold. That made him grow up and be masterful.

Yukichi knows what can calm down Saku. The witty smile sprouted confidence. Also, he enjoyed the time with a cat food can. So, apt.

Yukichi is a blessing in Disguise. He uses insect repellent because he understands that squashing the same is not a good idea for Saku. He is so understanding. We need more people like Yukichi in our life.

I kept wondering who does all the grocery shopping since I watched the debut episode. See, I was confident that Yukichi is the man of the house. The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Episode 2 gives me a solid answer. Yukichi shops.

And the response and reaction of the other shoppers were truly on point. You are in your departmental store and you see a figure, a giant cat shopping, reading labels choosing which cabbage is good. You can’t ignore the apron(the apron was to avoid spreading cat furs everywhere), the hanging wallet, and the conventional Japanese slipper. He is like a granny.

The manager greeted Yukichi extraordinarily though. He feels special that Yukichi shops from the store. Also, the young girl, Nishini, and her monologues were seriously relatable. But her assumption about business going down because of Yukichi proved definitely false.

Seeing Saku perform at work shows her commitment to her professional responsibilities. The moment she arrives home she becomes the kid she actually is. It’s like Yukichi allows her to be her true self and the cat is her home.

Orizuka’s thoughts on Saku’s growth as a professional and as a person clearly reveal that Yukichi’s presence made her productive at work and a healthier person. She was a mess earlier, however, the moment Yukichi took responsibility, her life started to change for good and she clearly had no idea.

But she is grateful and she expresses her thankfulness to her cat a lot of times. We have seen that several times in just two episodes.

Orizuka assumed that it was her responsibility for the cat, that might have made her disciplined. Also, I must admit that Orizuka is genuinely a great human being. Saku asks him to wait for 30 seconds, he does wait without any judgment shown.

In fact, he is a terrific guy. He takes Saku back to her home after she throws all those drunken messes. He is kind. He didn’t share any of those memories until she asked him to.

Now what happens at Saku’s home was something. Orizuka sees a tiny cat opening the door and smacking his human for being a drunken mess. And also, he shows his gratitude and apologizes for the situation in the typical Japanese way.

Orizuka assumed that he must be seeing things which is obviously right. I was astounded myself. However, the montage was funny undeniably, especially the smack.

Also, Orizuka knows how Saku used to live, about which she was terrified all this time in the first place.

The ending of The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Episode 2 throws more light on Saku and Yukichi’s life. I like how Saku understands everything Yukichi has to say. He shares his interest in the concert that Saku will be attending with Orizuka which excites Yukichi a lot. Also, both of them play video games which was again interestingly surprising. But it was again wholesome for me.
