Rurouni Kenshin Ep 22 The Narrative

Kenshin’s buddies, Kouru and Yahiko notice that he’s been acting all quiet and withdrawn. He spills the beans to them about his latest dream about the Shinsegumi, those tough guys who are the last group of badass swordsmen in Japan.

Well, things get really crazy when this man shows up at the Kamiya Dojo looking for Kenshin. Sanosuke, who was waiting to get some free meals decides to step up and face him, but he gets brutally stabbed real quick. Turns out, this mysterious attacker is none other than Saito Hajime, a captain of the Shinsegumi.

But hold on, it gets even more intense. Turns out, Hajime is in cahoots with Shibumi, a former Ishin Shishi and the evil mastermind behind Jin-e’s attacks on government officials. While Megumi takes care of Sanosuke, Kenshin starts to suspect that Hajime is involved, but he’s not sure if he can take him down. Meanwhile, Hajime teams up with Akamatsu Arundo, Shibumi’s hired gun, to hatch a plan.

Following Hajime’s instructions, Kenshin heads out to a field all by himself, where he comes face to face with Akamatsu. The battle takes a crazy turn when Akamatsu uses sneaky tactics to trap Kenshin with chains, putting him in a really tough spot. Oh, and in another part of the story, Hajime runs into Yahiko while he’s out on his own.

Kenshin opening up to his pals: So, Kenshin talks about his rough past with the Shinsegumi to Kouru and Yahiko. It’s a pretty calm moment ’cause it shows he’s got trust and a solid bond with ’em. It’s nice to see his vulnerable side, it makes him more relatable. This is something that Kouru notices as well.

Sanosuke’s protective instinct: Sanosuke’s quick move-in when facing Saito while searching for Kenshin shows how loyal and protective he is towards his buddy. This loyalty was super endearing to me and for the audience’s as well I beliefs.

Kenshin’s inner struggle, man: Kenshin being all unsure about defeating Saito Hajime, gives him some serious depth, you know? That internal battle and self-doubt make Kenshin more relatable and human, which totally makes you feel for the guy. He’s just so likable and stuff in this particular montage.

Megumi taking care of Sanosuke: The way Megumi treats Sanosuke after he gets stabbed adds a real human touch to the story. It shows how much they care about each other’s well-being, and it creates some pretty awesome dynamics between the characters.

Kenshin’s determination: Despite his uncertainty about defeating Hajime, Kenshin’s determination to confront the antagonist adds a layer of heroism. I appreciated Kenshin’s commitment to facing challenges head-on.

Strategic coordination: The way Hajime and Akamatsu Arundo planned their attack shows that they’re pretty smart and know how to think strategically. It’s a strong element added to the story to prove the skillfulness of these two individuals and their sincerity in the plot.

Yahiko’s run-in with Hajime: Oh man, when Hajime spots Yahiko all by himself, you can feel the danger and tension rising! It really amps up the excitement and keeps us hooked on what’s gonna happen next to these characters.
