Rurouni Kenshin Ep 6 “Kurogasa” Review, Was This Chapter From The Meiji Era Drama Engaging? *Spoilers*

Rurouni Kenshin Ep 6 was dropped on 11th August 2023 and it has a villain who was under the shadow in the last release. Finally, his villainous face gets a full reveal in “Kurogasa” which is also his name by the way. The villain is quite terrifying as of now. However, I am pretty sure that this Shonen hero of ours will be able to bring him down to his knees very soon.

But how was the episode in total? For, that without any further delay let us get going with-

Things You Might Have Liked From Rurouni Kenshin Ep 6 “Kurogasa”

The story of the 6th release begins with a calm and peaceful time in the Kamiya Kasshin-ryū” where the people are having a good time. Now, there are two individuals, Yahiko and Sanosuke who loves talking honestly with Kouru. Well, it can be assumed that they share their constructive criticism every now and then which kind of infuriates the girl. To add humor to the context, Sanosuke even tries to include Kenshin on his side.

Their fun and peaceful morning comes to a sudden halt when a man in uniform arrives seeking Kenshin’s sincere help. Now, the police officer was stressed by the shocking arrival of Hitokari Jine A.K.A Kurogasa who is after, all the Imperialists. Also, the officer says, that the assassin uses a supernatural binding spell that somehow petrifies the victim which makes it easy for him to slay the men.

Just at that time, Kenshin deciphers what might be the binding spell which kind of intrigues Sanosuke too.

Now, Kenshin and Sanosuke agree to be bodyguards, which the officer requested them to do. Just like the rumor, he appears after midnight and begins slaughtering the rest of the bodyguards left and right while paralyzing his victims. It was damn scary for the people there.

However, his technique was useless on Kenshin. Kenshin smartly deduces the situation which breaks the spells and asks Sanosuke the same as well. He uses his brain amid the tense air. However, Sanosuke gets injured pretty badly. But, Kenshin saves the day; in fact, I was assured of the situation, that Kenshin will save the day.

Nonetheless, Kurogasa before leaving openly challenges Kenshin and targets him next. I honestly thought that the villain is about to visit Kouru’s home that night. The way he escapes with an evil smirk genuinely gave me the creeps.

The entire interaction between the two Hitokiris offers Kenshin a peek, deep into the man and this helped him determine that he is a rival from his past. That certainly gives him the window to understanding more about the slayer and decides to not return to Kamiya Kasshin-ryū, in order to safeguard Yahiko and Kaoru’s life. It was very much like him.

But this upset Kouru a lot and she is scared that she might not get the chance to meet Kenshin ever again. Well, she is confident that Kenshin will win the fight but he will leave her for good as he promised. So she leaves in haste to meet with Kenshin.

After their profound talk, she offers Kenshin her favorite hairband and asks him to return the same after the supposed fight. She in fact makes him promise the situation, which of course our hero does.

However, Kouru gets kidnapped. Just within a blink of an eye, Hitokiri Jine abducts Kouru from direct sight of our Rurouni. Honestly, it was surprising for me. At this point, I was more worried about Yahiko and Sanosuke, since, we all heard Kurogasa’s evil but subtle laugh from behind their gate.

Well, the narrative was plain yet was a package deal. There were normal times and terrifying hours as well. When Kenshin and Sanosuke were walking back home that very night, I was scared because I genuinely thought Kurogasa was about to pay his visit to Kouru and Yahiko, and the night is going to be painful for Kenshin. But soon after, the sun rose bright, and I felt everything is okay for the moment. Matter of fact, Kurogasa visited Kasshin-ryū.

What is worrying me is that Kenshin is generously tensed. He clearly says that this time the opponent is much more vicious and if Kouru is there it will be difficult for him. He is much worried about breaking his promise of not killing humans ever again. I really hope that he manages to retain his promise.

I really appreciate the affection that Kouru has for Kenshin. Sanosuke somehow understood the emotion, and the villain did that too. Also, Kouru does not trust Yahiko at all. She is undergoing a chronic abandonment issue and she believes that Kenshin will also leave her soon.

However, there is nothing for Yahiko. It seems like whatever if he stays it’s fine if he leaves still it’s fine. Also, Yahiko is good with what Kouru has for him.

I enjoyed the story. And I am very much interested to find out what is packed in “The Two Hitokiri”.
