Virupaksha 2023 is a horror thriller, which had a theatrical release in India on 21st April. The narrative is designed by Karthik Varma Dandu who also happens to direct the horror flick. The dialogues are written by V. Prabhakar and Nagu.
Since I am drawn toward supernatural Indian shows, I gave the movie a chance. No spoilers are revealed in this content. It’s just a simple review of the Horror Telegu movie.

Things I Liked About Virupaksha 2023
The story of Virupaksha 2023 is based on Indian folklore which includes an intense amount of eerie spiritual practices. We get to hear about Atharva Veda being mentioned a few times in the narrative as well. The ambiance of the film is explicitly dark and something ominous is always lurking behind the bright sunny days.
The narrative takes place in Rudravanam which briefs us about a horrific event in 1979. We watch a couple engaged in black magic. The villagers understand the sincerity of the calamitous situation, therefore, they drag the couple out and burn the pair by tying them up in a tree on their property itself. The worst part is, their boy gets to witness this cruel act of the villagers. He struggled a lot to save his parent, however, his painful wailing was shut off. The next morning, the villagers even contemplate murdering the boy. But he is somehow saved by the village panchayat Harishchandra Prasad.
The first few minutes were depicted in the most enthralling manner which was enough for me to stay hooked to the narrative. The story is very interesting, entertaining, haunting, thrilling, and pretty immersive in nature. I was not distracted even for a second while watching the content.
The direction of Virupaksha 2023 was engaging, as I said, I was not distracted even for a second. The pace was adequate for the non-Telugu audience as well. I understood every bit of this drama effortlessly.
The main leads Surya and Nadini were superb. They were equally important for the movie. Surya from the beginning emanated a dependable energy that lasts till the very end of the movie. And as for Nandini, I just enjoyed her character development with the progression of the film. The additional characters were essential in the movie, most importantly for the protagonists, to make solid decisions. They helped the narrative take an interesting speed.
Since I am very new to the Telegu genre, I don’t have much hold on the history of the actors in this industry. As a newbie in the category, I simply appreciated their work. Here is the list of the cast of Virupaksha 2023.
- Sai Dharam Tej as Surya

The shocking twist by the end of the movie was fabulous. I was surprised. The directorial excellence of Karthik Varma Dandu was brilliant. It was thorough, very detailed, and easy to understand. When you reach the end, all of your questions will be answered, so you will have a satisfying ending for sure.
There were only three playbacks in the movie which was again very suitable with the events happening on screen. B. Ajaneesh Loknath is the man behind those beautiful melodies which were a delight to the ears.
