She Is Very Complex

What goes in her mind cannot be predicted. The complex way of her thinking sometimes makes her not so appreciable at all.

Loved Being Praise

Without a doubt, she was talented, which made her collect praises from family and friends all the time which kind of made her narcissistic too. On that note…

Hates Being Criticised

When Fredrick criticize her work, she failed to stay calm. Since her works were published in newspapers, therefore receiving criticism from someone, not an author was insulting to her. Instead of taking the criticism like a mature human, she stomps out.

Too Much Self Centered

Always regarded her thoughts and opinions to be significant. Well, the very prominent example is when she asks Meg to elope with her since she considers life with John Brooke will bore Meg within two years only, while they will be interesting forever. She considered marrying and becoming someone’s wife is a very poor choice of life which was kind of demeaning towards all the wives she knew, like her mother as well as Meg and later Amy.

She Was Jealous

Jo rejects Laurie, while Amy loved Laurie from the very beginning. She would have stayed shut and married someone else as well if Jo accepted Laurie as a life partner. With a very fair intention when Laurie confesses his love for Amy to Jo, the sudden change of expression was nothing like being happy.

As already mentioned she is a very complex human being, hence she might have turned a bit jealous since she once again stands headfast with Amy(the sibling with whom she fought the most).

Also, when Beth was sick again, she thoroughly instructed her family to not inform Amy since this would cut her trip short which was not at all appreciated by Jo.

She Can Be Hateful As Well

Well, definitely yes. Amy is a little sister. They could have simply taken her to the theater. Instead, Jo blatantly stopped her by being rude to her. As a result of which Amy just did what every young sibling does. The hateful way which Jo adopts was not cool.

Definitely, Amy did something not good or applaudable. However, being the older sister, Jo should have tackled the situation in a more mature way, isn’t it?

Nonetheless, these attributes of her, are what made her too much humane as well, don’t you think so? She is not pure at heart, she contempts, hates being judged, and certainly loves all the attention in the room. But these qualities of her only makes her the lady about whom we are talking right now.
