The Story
Blue Period is a light-hearted anime that superficially gives you a glimpse of never-ending greed to succeed in making Art and taking up art as a career. The lead Yatora Yaguchi is a delinquent but sure has a passion to make a career for a good life. This urge makes him work tremendously hard. But destiny has something else planned for him, that drives him to land over a piece of art created by one of his seniors.
The piece stuns him so much that he decides to move with art in his life and pursue a degree from the Tokyo University of Arts. He meets and greets numerous artists and painters on his journey from an amateur to some sort of expert who understands the nook and corners of making art.
Blue Period is all about his struggles, his ideologies, and trips, over the decisions he makes to take up art from TUA since his family was unable to afford a private institute.
Precisely, the anime talks more than pursuing arts. Giving it a deeper glance, you might be able to understand that here art is just a metaphor for passion. Also, it’s never too late, you just have to take time and understand what drives your mind happy but stresses you as well.
It is a very deep story, which is very relatable, friendly, educative, reflective, enlighting, hopeful, tense, and of course nice.
The Characters
The anime represent what is the definition of determination and ardent hard work. The lead, Yatora is a brilliant example of perseverance and diligence. He proves to us that if you want something really bad in your life, your patience and hard work will surely gift you that. The anime takes us on his journey, therefore we witness and experience what this young ambitious boy goes through. From getting chives to performance trauma, he surpasses every single hindrance on his path and shows us that it is okay, take a slight pause, and then begin once again.
Apart from Yatora, the additional characters such as his school friends, his school art teacher, and the members of the Art Club were some of the initial encouragement that he received alongside his undertakings as a noob painter. But when he starts taking a prep course, his noob life takes a professional turn where he meets various other proficient artists.
The friends he makes in the prep class are some significant influences on his journey. They are some deep characters who not only inspired the boy but us too. Additional credit goes to his prep school teacher who never failed to teach the boy and motivate him constantly at every step and at every decision he took.
The anime showed us a bundle of people who were intensely encouraging, inspiring, dependable, reflective, complex, flawed, talented, focussed, confident, happy, and genuine to the core.
