Is Chifuyu From Tokyo Revengers A Blessing In Disguise For TOMAN?

Chifuyu from Tokyo Revengers or Chifuyu Matsuno is an integral character who finally came out of shade when Baji left TOMAN. Definitely, we see glimpses of this silent victor numerous times in the title track. But he gains a prominent seat in the show when chaos struck in TOMAN with Baji leaving the gang and Kisaki joining the same.

We genuinely feel that Chifuyu is that comrade that needs a holler. Yes, we know Takemichi struggled really very hard during his time, traveling in the past. His goal to save, Akkun, Draken, Hina, and ultimately TOMAN was his priority. But later as things develop and Kisaki finally joins the gang, Baji also reserves a seat on his priority list. Thus Chifuyu becomes an ally on his mission to save TOMAN.

Receiving The Bash With A Belief

Kazutora takes Takemichi to the base of Valhalla where he finds Baji beating someone from TOMAN. He later gains the idea that he is none other than Baji’s vice president from the 1st squad, just to prove his loyalty to Valhalla, that he is no spy. It was definitely terrifying for Takemichi to watch something so brutal. Also, this was really cruel since the victim was his vice president.

The next day when Takemichi meets that very injured person in person, he gets shocked and finds it really hard to believe what that guy reveals. Chifuyu was the victim who was bashed the other day by Baji and he was the former vice president of 1st Squad of TOMAN. Even after so many punches and a wounded eye, Chifuyu believes that Baji is up to something and is investigating Kisaki.

The comradeship and fellowship exhibited by Chifuyu were beyond anything imaginable.

He Predicted Baji’s Intention Beforehand

Otherwise, finding a lead this fast was not at all easy right? Also, he clarifies the doubt to Takemichi too, that he knows, what and how Baji thinks and acts. They contact Osanai and find out the reality behind the 3rd squad captain smirky Kisaki.

What relieves the scene is that he confirms that Baji is not a traitor at all, instead, he is fighting his very own battle staying inside Valhalla to protect TOMAN.

Chifuyu Trusted Takemichi

Takemichi is a cry baby, but still, he is loved by all the prominents of TOMAN. His genuine urges to solve unresolved fights and save the gang many a time impressed Draken, Mikey, and Mitsuya. Definitely, this unhidden attribute affected many inside the gang.

When Takemichi failed to resist his impulse and fisted Kisaki in his very own ceremony, this instinctive act gained Chifuyu’s attention and he picked up the sign that Takemichi is also against the idea of including Kisaki into TOMAN. Therefore he promises Takemichi to help him get to the top even though it was impossible for Takemichi to seat at the top.

His Unending Exhibition Of Loyalty

The Bloody Halloween event simplifies his comradeship both to Baji and TOMAN. When Baji was intending on attacking Kisaki, Chifuyu prevented the action since this would mean Baji moving against Mikey, and this would again prove his betrayal to TOMAN.

He gets beaten up again, but never flinches from his goal even though the situation seems chaotic and messy. Thanks to Takemichi, he somehow manages to clear the air just for a bit only to find out that Chifuyu can never think of fisting Baji. It was simply beyond his policy.

Next, when Baji takes his last breath, the moment definitely talks something deep. We of course felt the sibling energy running around the duo. It felt the elder brother is taking his last breath on the lap of his favorite youngest.

No one from TOMAN, not even Mikey who was the actual reason behind all his undercover mission, dared to face Baji during the last time. They all grieved their hearts out, however, Chifuyu and Takemichi were the ones who stayed with this silent hero of TOMAN.

Chifuyu Keeps His Promise

Leaving TOMAN was Chifuyu’s final decision, however, Mikey manages to convince the depressed fellow. The solution that obviously raised a questionable situation was somehow agreed upon in the end by the leader. Yes, we are talking about Takemichi being appointed the captain of the 1st squad by Chifuyu.

Takemichi lost track of his goal amidst his failed mission this time. Also, we cannot speculate earning a position in TOMAN is so huge within a small span of time. So we can think that Baji’s death called for it, although it was a heart-wrenching deal.

Later, back in the future, we see a very cordial comradeship between Chifuyu and Takemichi that genuinely warms up our hearts. Even when he stands cornered, his unparalleled partnership with Takemichi to bring Kisaki out in the light was something worth mentioning.

He is someone in the anime universe that educates us what is the real meaning of staying true to one’s promise and maintaining friendship even if it means you put your life on the line. He is sure a blessing that Baji brought into TOMAN. He was following what Baji started and was accompanying Takemichi as well, in his mission. The ending however doesn’t give trace as to what happened to Akkun, Hina, and Draken in the altered past and present. Let us just wait and find out when the next season finally comes.
