So what about the story?
Our Beloved Summer: The Brief
The story begins with the shooting of a documentary, featuring two students attending their daily lecture in high school. The purpose of the documentary was to shoot what is the school life of the best and worst pupils, aged 19.
Choi Ung played by Choi Woo Shik is the worst student while the best is Kook Yeon Soo played by Kim Da-Mi. They undergo different scenarios and different perspectives on running their student life. Further, they plan to live completely differently in the future.
However, the whole process of filming the documentary circumstantially makes them fall in love.
Fast forward 10 years to the future, we see adults, Choi Ung and Yeon Soo, living their planned life, but their lives don’t revolve around each other anymore. They are now each other’s ‘Ex’. However, the documentary that they shot back in high school gains trending status in the present day.
That makes the producer who happens to be a childhood friend of Choi Ung, Kim Ji Ung request them to shoot another documentary featuring their recent lives and where about.
Our Beloved Summer depicts their present time showcasing their differences, their squabbles, their success, their respect for each other, and ultimately their love for each other.
Our Beloved Summer: The Good And The Bad
Our Beloved Summer is too relatable. You will find loving parents, a nagging grandparent, best friends, best friend falling for your partner, and personalities that are simple and warm to be around.
We all feel inferiority complex right? However, some love and support have the power to change our way of looking at ourselves. Our Beloved Summer beautifully showcases that subject that will definitely warm you up.
Additionally, the leads build up energy that will drive you to watch the next episode after you are done with one.
Also, Our Beloved Summer teaches us that staying positive is a choice and not something that we are born with.
And, if you are deeply in love with someone no one can take that place and you will definitely end up together forever.
Further, problems and issues are the engines of each life, that genuinely has the power to drive us and make our life interesting.
The production team worked brilliantly along with the casts. In fact, special credit should be given to the background scores since that magically changed the entire sequence making it sweeter and delightful.
