Kakegurui: The Story In Brief

Hyakkaou Private Academy, the prestigious school of Japan with wards from prominent notable families residing in the country, happens to excel in its gambling activity amongst students. With the change of the President of the Student Council, the establishment of hierarchy brings an agonizing impact on the enrolled students.

The ones with the most debts in addition to the least donations made are termed as Housepets(Fido for male and Mittens for female) who are treated as servants of the remaining students.

The increasing brutality on Housepets in the Hyakkaou Private Academy however comes to a drastic halt with the arrival of a Transfer student Yumeko Jabami. Till her arrival, the concept of Housepets was considered lame and puny.

But Yumeko totally changed the game and soon became the popular gambler in the whole of Hyakkaou Private Academy.

She turned the game so much in favor of her odds, that even the Student Council gave her full attention going to the extent of extracting her family background and all.

However, Yumeko and her tactic evenly designed her time in Hyakkaou Private Academy. She even befriends some of the good hands in luck and gambling.

With raging interest over S1, there is a sequel to the anime in addition to live-action drama and a film that involves the same story. With S2 we find an introduction of the Momobami clan (who happens to be a distant relative of Yumeko Jabami as well) and their brutality in displaying gambling skills towards the students of Hyakkaou Private Academy.

MAPPA designed this gambling genre while Netflix is currently streaming the same. You have 12 episodes each in every season and each episode runs for 24 minutes.

Kakegurui: The Good & The Bad

The Good

The anime will give you a sense of thrill at every episode you watch after the obvious first episode and second episode. Since Yumeko is the lead you will know that luck will favor her more than any powerful gambler present. But the personality of this insane girl will not disappoint you. In fact, you will enjoy watching her win her time at every game she plays.

Her way of tackling situations is crazy. Yumeko is an intellectual being who will amuse you with her analyzing capacity and warm nature.

The content is too engrossing, you will keep wondering what happens next, even if you find the idea of some gambling games sometimes hard to grasp.

The direction is good paired perfectly with the suitable animation by MAPPA, makes this anime exact and interesting.

You will find friendship, trust, loyalty, family issues, and the ‘rich people’ tantrums that make this anime good to watch.

The Bad

Sometimes the idea of gambling shown in this anime might seem ridiculous. You will find high school students betting on their life just to reach a certain position in their school years(apparently that position might help the guy in accomplishing some jaw-dropping goals after school). This seems not only trivial but also foolish.

Further, gambling can make you enjoy orgasm is something extra, however funny.

In fact, the brutal scenes projected in the show can be scary.

Further, the sexualized content might make you watch the show all alone.

The lead might be a pretty warm girl outside but her insane side might make you feel sidetracked with her achievements that can be a bit misleading too. You will never want someone crazy in your life like Yumeko. She can risk her everything on mere games just to enjoy the thrill.

This is an interesting anime that you should definitely watch just for enjoyment. The engaging content of this TV show is worth your time investment. However, don’t take the subject matter too seriously, for this is all for fun and nothing practical.
